Renowned among gourmets in the south-east quarter of France for its faisselle and crème de Bresse PDO, the top-of-the-range regional brand La Bressane was born in 1939 in Varennes-Saint-Sauveur in Bresse, where the Ain, Jura and Saône-et-Loire départements meet.
It was here, in the heart of the Bresse countryside, surrounded by ponds, traditional farms, plains and rolling countryside, that a handful of dairy farmers from the village and surrounding area got together and founded a cooperative butter factory.
A small regional company with deep roots in its area, La Bressane is more than just a local SME: it's a cultural ambassador for its region.
It collects and manufactures its dairy products using only Bresse milk, offering simple but high-quality products, prepared with care by a team committed to traditional methods. This very special know-how and expertise has won several awards at agricultural competitions such as the Concours International de Lyon and the Concours Général Agricole.
