A project to mark the former parachute drop sites of the Second World War has taken shape in the département on the initiative of the CVRs.
Since 2011, the Voluntary Resistance Fighters (CVR) of Saône-et-Loire have been working on a project to mark the former parachute drop sites of the Second World War to pay tribute to the men and women who took great risks to continue the fight against the enemy.
The Fley parachute drops took place on 13 April, 7 and 30 May, and at the end of August 1944, and were intended for the local Resistance. The coded message from Radio Londres was "La Sarcelle is a good comrade".
On the night of 10 to 11 August 1944, an SAS (Special Air Service) commando was dropped to support the Resistance actions to liberate the territory.
The totem pole was inaugurated on 8 July 2018.
