A project to mark the former parachute drop sites of the Second World War has taken shape in the département.
Since 2011, the Voluntary Resistance Fighters (CVR) of Saône-et-Loire have been working on a project to mark the former parachute drop sites of the Second World War to pay tribute to the men and women who took great risks to continue the fight against the enemy.
The Cuiseaux airdrop took place at the "Chimène" airfield on 26 October 1942 with the coded message "The highway code is out of date".
The totem pole was inaugurated on 5 February 2011.
