Visitez l'église Saint-Pierre de Mâcon guidé par un fidèle, via les instruments, couleurs et lieux de la liturgie
Free visit to the Church of Saint Pierre de Mâcon.
The parish of St Etienne de Mâcon is pleased to offer you the chance to (re)discover its church, St Pierre, guided by a faithful Catholic through each part of the church (façade, aisles, choir, etc.).
Each month, the visit will focus on a particular theme:
- March: women in the Church
- May: the figure of Mary
- September: Creation
- November: the saints and their attributes
etc.
For the month of June, we propose to focus on the liturgical instruments, places, symbols and colours used by Catholics, through paintings, statues, stained-glass windows, frescoes and during the various services.
NB: the visit is not a historical or architectural tour. If required, professional tour guides can organise special tours (ask at the tourist office for details).
Nor is it a religious or catechetical visit. It is an opportunity to review your religious culture through the eyes of one of its practitioners. No basic knowledge of faith or catechism is required - quite the opposite!
Our proposal is to discover (or rediscover) a Catholic place of worship in order to understand what goes on there, from 3 angles:
1- What I see (what it is, who did it, when, etc.)
2- I understand (what does it mean to Catholics? why is it here?)
3- I experience it (what the faithful say or do here).
Visits can be booked by email (see form, or directly at psedm@orange.fr). A confirmation will be sent to you in return. Please indicate the number and age of each participant.
