Visitez l'église Saint Pierre de Mâcon guidé par un fidèle, à travers la figure de Marie
Free visit to the Church of Saint Pierre de Mâcon.
The parish of St Etienne de Mâcon is pleased to offer you the opportunity to (re)discover its church of St Pierre, guided by a faithful Catholic.
Each month, the visit (approximately 1 hour) will focus on a particular theme:
- March: Women in the Church
- June: liturgical instruments, places, symbols and colours
- September: Creation
- November: the saints and their attributes
etc.
For the month of May, we propose to focus on the figure of Mary, a saint particularly loved by Catholics, through the paintings, statues, stained glass windows and frescoes in the church...
NB: the visit is not a historical or architectural tour. If required, professional tour guides can organise special tours (ask at the tourist office).
Nor is it a religious or catechetical visit. It is an opportunity to revisit religious culture through the eyes of one of its practitioners. No basic knowledge of faith or catechism is required - quite the opposite!
The idea is to discover (or rediscover) a Catholic place of worship in order to understand what goes on there, from 3 angles:
1- What I see (what it is, who did it, when, etc.)
2- I understand (what does it mean to Catholics? why is it here?)
3- I experience it (what the faithful say or do here).
Visits can be booked by email (see form, or directly at psedm@orange.fr). A confirmation will be sent to you in return. Please indicate the number and age of each participant.
