Washing and sorting sheep's wool

You will discover how to sort a fleece according to the quality of the wool, and then we will wash ewe's wool on a small scale. These are the essential first steps before you can start spinning, dyeing or felting!

We'll learn to recognise several breeds of ewe and their particular wool qualities, so that they can be used for felting, spinning, stuffing, clothing, upholstery, etc.

We'll look at each participant's individual processing needs: recognising the different stages of wool processing (manual and artisanal) so as to be able to decide on the scale and technique for producing a woollen product.

If you have ewes, either as a breeder or as an individual, or if you have been given a freshly harvested ewe's fleece, this course will answer your questions about wool harvesting, fleece sorting, hand washing, the different qualities of wool and their potential.

If necessary, we'll talk about the possibility of processing your wool on a larger scale in France.
