Phèdre !
2B COMPANY / THÉÂTRE VIDY-LAUSANNE
The Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne invited director François Gremaud to create a show for schools, conceived as a Trojan Horse: using a classic text from the school curriculum to bring a contemporary theatrical form into schools. François Gremaud, convinced by the strong theatrical potential of the lecture format and keen to collaborate with actor Romain Daroles (whom he had met as a student at the Manufacture, Haute École des Arts de la Scène in Lausanne), immediately thought of the figure of a teacher who, passionate about his course, would end up playing all the characters in the play he was teaching. Having himself been overwhelmed by Phèdre and Racine's language as a teenager, the play was an obvious choice.
