A moment of emotion and virtuosity with Béatrice Berne, Pierre Courthiade, Alexandre Peronny and Genti Bahja. This concert highlights the two facets of Nino Rota, composer of classical music (symphonies, operas, chamber music) and author of 170 unforgettable film music themes.

Béatrice Berne on clarinet, Alexandre Peronny on cello and Pierre Courthiade on piano will perform the Sonata for clarinet, the Preludes for piano and the beautiful trio for clarinet, cello and piano, all of which underline Rota's compositional mastery.

As a result of his collaboration with Coppola, Zeffirelli, Visconti and above all Fellini, his music contributed to the success of these films. These magnificent themes (La Strada, Le Guépard, The Godfather, etc.) are arranged for this quartet formation, which represents the timbres of the orchestra's wind and string sections very well.

This world depicted in music by Rota in Fellini's Répétition d'Orchestre (1978) was the last work of their intimate collaboration of 25 years, following the composer's death in 1978.

Nino Rota uses the full expressive power of the voice in music that evokes bel canto and traditional Italian songs (Canzone arrabiata, La Malinconia).

Genti Bahja's magnificent voice has the sunny colour of Italy. In this concert programme, these brilliant artists cover a wide range of genres and styles, from clown music (huit et demi) to the elegant waltz of Le Guépard.

Béatrice Berne will be playing 4 clarinets (from piccolo to bass) and Alexandre Perrony the cello and electric bass.
