Bad winds are blowing so hard that they are cracking the seams of old Europe and shaking the walls that hold nations together. On the edge of the Old Continent, torn between Slavic and Western influences, Moldavia is at the heart of a great rift that it is trying to mend. Does this Russo-European macedonia, as uncertain as it is fragile, foreshadow the decrepitude of the Old World, or does it harbour the seeds of a possible rebound?
