Exposition Marc Laforêt - Impression d'expérience

Marc Laforest, who lives in the Yvelines and is originally from Saône-et-Loire, is deeply attached to the Sud Côte Chalonnaise region, where he has been a regular visitor since childhood. His grandfather was the first stationmaster at Saint-Gengoux-le-National!

Marc Laforest studied architecture at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and has always had an artistic bent. Alongside his work in IT, he practised engraving at the Conflans-Sainte-Honorine art studio, and for several years now has been concentrating on the art of the monotype.

This non-engraving printing technique produces a single print. The artist paints on a stainless steel, copper, aluminium or rhodoid plate, which serves as a matrix. The image is then transferred to paper by manual pressure, creating a unique print that combines a mastered technique with a touch of the unexpected.

After several exhibitions in the Paris region, Marc Laforest presented his exhibition "Expérience d'impression" at the Galerie de l'Espérance in Saint-Gengoux-le-National in August 2024. Conceived as a sequel, the "Impression d'Expérience" exhibition presents his monotypes created with oil paint or etching ink. These abstract, colourful motifs are direct testimony to the artist's ability to let go, and invite contemplation.
