Exposition "Les collections en mouvement - Nouvelles donations et restaurations"

When the museum reopens in spring 2026, the new temporary exhibition will highlight recent developments (acquisitions and restorations) within the museum.

Two exceptional donations of works by Terry Hass (1923-2016) and Lena Vandrey (1941-2018), extraordinary 20th-century artists represented in leading national museums, will showcase their highly personal relationship with the sacred. This is an opportunity to discover their strong and engaging personalities, both in their art and in their lives.

On the restoration front, two 17th-century engravings embellished with straw marquetry frames will be returning from the C2RMF (Centre de Restauration et de Recherche des Musées de France) in Paris, where they spent two years being analysed from every angle: composition of the pigments, observation of the straws under a scanning microscope, hyperspectral imaging, infrared reflectography, laser cleaning, and so on. This restoration, made possible by the rarity of these works, is helping to improve scientific knowledge of this type of object for many other museums in France: a source of pride for the town of Paray-le-Monial!
