During the Renaissance, music, both spiritual and secular, reflected the very essence of human existence. Motets and songs expressed the divine and its eternal celestial beauty as well as earthly and sensual emotions.

The ROUNDELAY ensemble from the NETHERLANDS, conducted by Renée KARTODIRDJO, performs works by English and French composers. To mark the 400th anniversary of his death, the English composer John DOWLAND is featured in the programme.
