A repertoire to connect us, singers and listeners, in a vibrant, resonant space. Suspend time, in the heart of timeless places, and share the pleasure of singing together and listening to each other collectively.

Les Mécanos are ten singer-percussionists who have been working together since 2018 around polyphonies from the oral tradition, in French and Occitan. Based in and around Saint-Etienne, the collective has built up a solid international reputation, placing its songs at the crossroads of traditional and contemporary music.

With LINHA[A] , an entirely a capella creation devoid of any sound technology, Les Mécanos have chosen to immerse themselves ever more collectively in the popular and convivial practice of southern polyphonic singing, guided by the expert and friendly ear of Pascal Caumont, who is the artistic director.

From the Pyrenees to the Italian Alps, via the Massif Central and all the way to Catalonia, the ten singers celebrate a living, plural vocal memory that creates links and conveys deeply humanist values.

Drawing on oral tradition and contemporary creation, LINHA[A] makes Les Mécanos a little more part of a multi-faceted Occitan world, bringing together imaginary worlds from a variety of territories, bringing identities together beyond regional specificities.

Solo, in trio, in tutti, they weave an intimate, powerful and generous sound, born of a collective harmonic vibration in constant interaction with the acoustics of the venue and the listener.

The Linha[a] show was supported by the MJC Pont des Demoiselles (Toulouse - 31), the FestyVocal association (Firminy - 42), the Sainte-Croix-en-Jarez town hall (42), the Cros en Artense town hall (63), the Cité de la Voix (Vézelay - 89) and the Abbaye de Sylvanès (12) during its creation.
