Along the 3 locks at Chambilly, you'll discover the rich history of the Canal de Roanne à Digoin, which was one of the most important inland waterway freight routes in France. An epic story full of twists and turns, and a great adventure of courageous men and women.

Join us at Lock 6 in Chambilly for a 3km walk along the towpath, filled with anecdotes from the daily lives of bargemen and local residents, and important moments in French history. The tour ends on the banks of the Loire, where there was a port, a shipyard, a ferry and one of the first suspension bridges in the region.

Accessible to all, punctuated with humour and little-known anecdotes, this walk will give you a whole new perspective on the canal!
