Église Saint-Étienne

The church of St-Etienne du Breuil must have been built in the 12th-13th century by the Cistercian monks of Ferté-sur-Grosne. Wall paintings of the XIVth.

The construction of the church of Le Breuil probably required several campaigns but, at the end of the 12th and the beginning of the 13th century, it remains almost certain that the Cistercian monks of Ferté-sur-Grosne participated in it. Indeed, it corresponds to the small rural Cistercian churches described by Éliane Vergnolle, professor of medieval art history at the University of Besançon. The church is dedicated to Saint Anthony, then in 1701 to Saint Stephen. Beautiful wall paintings from the 14th century.
