Eglise Saint-Baudile

This church is dedicated to Saint-Baudile, martyr of the 3rd century.

This church is dedicated to Saint-Baudile, a 3rd century martyr. Originally from Orléans, he decided, with his wife, to go and evangelize the region of Nîmes. It was there that he was beheaded for having interrupted a pagan sacrifice. The oldest part of the church of Saint-Boil is its bell tower (11th century), listed as a historical monument in 1943 and its furniture is classified as an object by the historical monuments.

The church was rebuilt in the 19th century, but the bell tower remains from the Romanesque period. To see: the bays of the bell tower with their decorated columns and their sculpted capitals.
