Eglise Romane "Saint-Pierre" de Brancion

This church is a late Romanesque masterpiece (end of the 11th century) of an almost Cistercian austerity. It is situated at the tip of a promontory overlooking the Grosne valley, opposite the old manor house of the Sires of Brancion. It is topped by a square bell tower with a lava roof. The blind nave is vaulted with a strongly broken barrel vault. The slightly projecting transept is topped by a cupola at the transept crossing. 13th century paintings (including a beautiful pilgrimage scene) line the walls.
