Eglise Notre-Dame-de-la-Providence

Church rebuilt from 1869 in a Romanesque-Byzantine style and full of architectural references. Three main themes in the tympanums.

Intended to replace the old Romanesque church which had become too small, the church of Digoin, in Romanesque-Byzantine style and full of architectural references, was built from 1869 onwards. The tympanums and capitals of the façade were sculpted between 1976 and 1978, under the impetus of Father Rhéty. The tympanum has three main themes: the call of God, the wedding at Cana and the disciples of Emmaus. A tribute is paid to the great chef Alexandre DUMAINE, a native of Digoin.
