Eglise du Sacré-Coeur et son Orgue
Built between 1863 and 1868, this church is one of the rare examples of Neo-Romanesque architecture in the Charolais. The building houses a Blumenroeder organ.
The reconstruction or enlargement of the churches of the Charolais-Brionnais in the 19th century was consequent, because of the dilapidated state of the original churches or the increase in population. The church of the Sacred Heart in Charolles is one of the most beautiful examples, along with Notre-Dame-de-Providence in Digoin. The architect, André Berthier, built a neo-Romanesque building, in reference to the many Romanesque churches in the area
Recently restored, the building has been home to a majestic organ since 5 October 2015.
The Blumenroeder organ (2016, 27/4+P) has a rare sound profile as it is designed to perform 17th century European music. It has excited the admiration of organists and music lovers from many countries, but with its richness and clarity of sound it also fascinates people who thought they "didn't like it"... You can discover it during ceremonies and concerts (often with free entrance) or on the occasion of musical demonstrations (Heritage Days, group visits ...).
