Typical & steeped in history, the cradle of oil shale mining in the Autunois region (from the late 19th to the early 20th century), this former mining town with its world-renowned deposits (a few remnants of this period remain just a few kilometers away) nestles at the crossroads of the verdant Arroux & Drée valleys (rivers full of fish) in a bucolic, undulating natural setting, combining agriculture & nature, between arable fields, wooded meadows, rivers & ponds and deep, wild forests (including the nearby Planoise national forest, one of the largest in France, and the famous Morvan forest massif). A 100% relaxing, unspoilt setting and site, ideal for rejuvenating walks or mountain bike rides. Very comfortable gîte.
