La Madonne
A close friend of various local winemakers (who can advise you on visits and tastings) and sister of one of the last remaining "vineyard laborers on horseback" (possibility of attending one of his work sessions), Sabine opens the doors of an authentic winemaker's house built in the 19th century, completely restored and reimagined as a peaceful holiday retreat, nestled quietly on the edge of a lane, a stone's throw from the famous 15th-century mill, an iconic emblem of the local AOC (classified as a "Historical Monument"), as well as an elegant 17th-century castle, within a picturesque hamlet steeped in history, perfectly preserved, perched as a "lookout" and "panoramic viewpoint" on a gentle hill overlooking the Val de Saône, offering a magnificent panorama all the way to Mont Blanc on a clear day! A sublime, unspoiled wine-growing environment, nestled in the rolling countryside on the border of the Mâconnais and Beaujolais regions (protected as a ZNIEFF area for its rich fauna and flora), lies at the very heart of the bucolic vineyards of "Moulin à Vent," the most prestigious of the Beaujolais crus. It is close to a large, unspoiled forest and the banks of the Saône River (protected as a "Natura 2000 Zone" for its remarkable ecosystems, particularly its birdlife). A truly picture-postcard setting and magnificent landscaped haven, it overlooks the historic village of Romanèche-Thorins, a charming little village brimming with character, home to the renowned "Hameau Dubœuf" and its unusual miniature train (Europe's first wine and vineyard theme park), as well as the highly regarded Touroparc Zoo (a 12-hectare zoological park and family-friendly nature-oriented amusement park with a large aquatic area). A very comfortable cottage. A warm, rustic charm with contemporary touches, blending tradition and modernity with hints of shabby chic, a vintage feel, and a neo-rustic ambiance, enhanced by the utterly unique character of an old rural home and a soothing color scheme in the bedrooms.
