Domaine de la Saule
Nathalie and Michel, farmers and livestock breeders (dairy calves & poultry / farm open to visitors nearby when they are present), welcome you to their farm. Their charming, traditional building, a truly exceptional example of character, dates back to the 11th century (for its oldest parts) and is steeped in history (originally a novitiate linked to the nearby Cluny Abbey). Adjacent to an elegant, listed Romanesque chapel built during the same period, it offers peace and tranquility nestled in a picturesque, perfectly preserved Burgundian hamlet, perched on a hillside with panoramic views, in the heart of the unspoiled Cluny countryside (protected as a Natura 2000 & ZNIEFF site for its rich flora and fauna). An enchanting setting nestled in the heart of the local wooded countryside on the slopes of Mont Saint-Pierre, draped in a beautiful wild forest, just a stone's throw from the bucolic vineyards of the Côtes Mâconnaises (and the renowned "Val Lamartinien" nearby). A picture-postcard setting and sublime surrounding countryside to explore on relaxing walks or mountain bike rides. Spacious rooms with a rustic charm, where the unique vintage feel of the place blends with the rich traces of the past (preserved beams and floors, original terracotta tiles). Pleasant private south-facing terraces, nestled in the heart of a flower-filled courtyard, complemented by a large shaded terrace where breakfast is served on sunny days.
