Vers les bois du Folin en 2 jours
You'll cross the Bibracte archaeological site, passing through the Sources de l'Yonne to the highest peak in Burgundy.
Follow the small road up to the summit of Mont Beuvray for 20 m, to the right of the "Le Chaudron" restaurant. Turn right directly behind the museum, following the GR©13. 500 m further on, turn left uphill and zigzag up to the Porte du Rebout.
Just after the Porte du Rebout, for a stroll in the forest, turn right and follow a PR (yellow) path around the ramparts. The second option is to follow the GR©13 through the archaeological site, without leaving it. As you walk along Bibracte's central road, you'll come across ?queules? These twisted trees are the remnants of woven hedges that enclosed pastures in centuries gone by.
Pass the Wivre stone. Follow the yellow track straight on to km 3.8. Take the GR©13 to the right and go straight downhill for 3 km to a small road. Turn left for a few metres, then right at the Moulin de Montvernot. Continue along the GR©13 to Petiton. In the hamlet, turn right onto a small road which descends and becomes a path along the Roche valley to the Moulin de la Chaute stream. Follow this road for 4 km. Be careful not to turn left at "vers les Beaux", as you pass the house. Go round the Moulin de la Chaute to the left. At km 12 (be careful), you'll find the GR©13. Take the road opposite for 500 m to the hamlet of L?Echenault, then turn left into the forest. After 100 m, leave the GR©13 and continue straight on uphill at km 14. Climb as far as Fontian, take the road to the right for a few metres and then a track to the left, still uphill. 1 km on the left, accommodation
Climb straight on, following a yellow PR, then left to visit the Sources de l'Yonne for 3 km.
Back at "cote 737m", take the GR©13 path to the left of the road, heading north. At 757 m, 300 m to the right, accommodation.
At Pré du Massé, Les Courreaux accommodation. Stay on the GR, turn left onto the road, then right onto a track, cross the Bois du Roy forest road and turn right onto the Route forestière de la Proie. Pass the Haut Folin antenna, the highest point in Burgundy. Continue until you come to a sharp left-hand bend along the Route de Préperny. Stay on the GR (red and white) as far as the Maison de la Croisette. Burgundy?s only downhill ski resort, now defunct, was set up here in 1980. At km 29, leave the GR and turn right onto a yellow signposted path leading south to Crot Morin. Accommodation
Head south on the small road marked GR© de Pays, red and yellow. Genetouse, La Courte, continuing downhill to the village of Saint-Prix. Lodging, Brasserie and restaurant. Go straight across, Plein Faîte and GR de Pays to Argentole on the left of the road. Turn right down into the valley and climb up to the Bibracte museum (take care when crossing the road).
