Mont Saint-Roch

Discover the village of Burnand by way of Mont Saint-Roch. You will pass in front of the Castle (private), with its beautiful polychrome roofs that dominate the village nestled in a combe.

- From the town hall, go down through the woods to the post "En Chauvet" and take the narrow path (towards jouvencelle and Mont Saint Roch)

- Shortly after the crossroads, turn right to go up through the vineyards towards the Mont Saint Roch. We cross a plantation of Atlas cedars to reach the top. In 1661, a family from Saint-Gengoux-le-National vowed to build a chapel dedicated to St. Roch if they escaped the plague that hit the region. This chapel was erected in 1662 on the spot where the statue of the Virgin Mary is now located. From this point of view you can admire the medieval city of Saint-Gengoux-le-National.

- Go back down to the village. On the way down you will see the castle of La Rochette, rebuilt in the 16th century and then heavily modified in the 19th century (private property).

- The itinerary follows the road to Saint-Gengoux, where you have to turn right into the rue de l'abattoir (direction Burnand) and then turn left (at the fire station)

- 50 m after the post "Le Colombier", a path opens up on the right passing not far from the Archers' tower, an old watchtower; probably built in the 14th century.

- After the stream, the path goes up to the Mont Péjus and dominates Saint Martin de Croix with its pretty 11th century chapel.

- When you reach the road, turn left to find the town hall.
