Louhans-Châteaurenaud, la cité aux 157 arcades

The origin of the city goes back to the 5th century when a group of Burgundians settled at the confluence of the Seille and the Solnan. They formed a town which developed from the 9th century onwards with the salt trade. Louhans became a commercial city over the centuries and still is today, as shown by the Grande Rue with its 157 arcades, one of the largest arcaded streets in France.
