Le vallon du Raverot
A small perched village, Montagny dominates the valley, offering vast views of the Mâconnais, Beaujolais and Clunisois mountains.
The serene beauty of these landscapes led a young lover, Léon de Bruys, a friend of Lamartine, to think that it would be enough to build a spacious "Italian-style" residence, widely open to the valley, for a beautiful Italian to come and live there: the lover having ruined himself in the enterprise, the beautiful woman did not follow up? Historically, the village has been directly influenced by the Abbey of Cluny, the Sires de la Bussière and the Marquis de Foudras, without ever being subordinated to the others for long. Ecologically included in the vast Natura 2000 zone of the Clunisois, it concentrates on its small territory a dense population of yellow-bellied toads. Here rules an undeniable quality of life.
