Le col des Enceints
Starting out from the Château de Saint Point to visit his great friend at the Château de Pierreclos, Lamartine crossed it again and again. Following in the poet's footsteps, let's take a leisurely climb to pass a few old buildings and enjoy a panoramic view of the Saône valley.
1 - From the exit of the parking lot in front of the town hall of Bourgvilain, turn left to the crossroads marking the center of the village. (Pottery) Turn right towards Les Meuriers. At the entrance of the hamlet, turn right and go up along the residence of Les Muriers until a crossroads. Follow on the right a grassy path which goes up the valley, along pastures and becomes sandy (view on the castle of Corcelle). Arrive at the junction that leads to the hamlet of Corcelle.
2 - Continue straight ahead. The path overhangs a small stream. Go along an old renovated farm and a pumping station. The path is now tarred and goes up to the D 212. Turn left along the inn to reach the col des Enceints. (view on the Saône valley).
3 - Turn around and go back down the D 212 for about 300 m. Turn left on a grassy path that crosses a wood parallel to the road. After having passed a shed (hamlet of Charme), turn left, cross a crossroads, go along a ruin and continue straight ahead. The grassy path widens and becomes sandy; it dominates the Valouzin valley (view of the Charolais mountains). At the next crossroads, go straight down to a small road.
4 - Cross it and go down to the hamlet of Montangerand. After the first house, turn twice to the right to reach an esplanade with a cross. Continue straight on a small road parallel to the D22. Pass in front of the selective sorting area, join then cross a playground and arrive at the starting parking lot.
