Le Bois de la Roche

The Bois de la Roche trail leads up to the crest of the vast Bois des Brûlées massif. Situated on a limestone ridge sculpted by erosion, this relief is the result of the accumulation of sediments in a Jurassic sea 170 million years ago. In this woodland, listed as a "Espaces Naturels Sensibles" in the Saône-et-Loire department, the trail allows you to explore a forest habitat that benefits from the warmth of the south as far south as Burgundy. Following in the footsteps of botanist Émile Chateau, from the damp, mossy undergrowth to the sun-scorched canopy, you'll discover the different forest associations of this Burgundy biodiversity hotspot.
