Circuit du Bocage
Welcome to the Bois Sainte Marie, place de la Grenette. This walk will make you discover our charming bocage. On your left, the Romanesque church of the XI century whose architecture you can discover (opened in daytime all year long) and on your right the alley which indicates the beginning of the course Once on the departmental road (old road of the ramparts) you see the gardens of the old people's home whose access is free, and the town hall. When you arrive at Guillaume Père, turn right. In front of you, the village of Gibles with Mount Saint Cyr in the background, culminating at 770 m. At La Charnaie, leave the asphalt road and go up to Belvédère on a path that allows you to discover our village, and on the left, the hill of Mont Brancher. Be careful when you cross the departmental road. To the south you can see the small mountain of Dun and its chapel, and at the end of the wood you can see the Morvan mountains on a clear day. You are at the highest point of the circuit (455 m). Going down, turn to the left on a small dirt track to Les Indres, then to the right in the direction of Les Bruyères to have a 360° view on the surrounding valleys. A new path takes you to Les Butenières, where you can see Bois Sainte Marie in front of Mount Saint Cyr. Left then right towards Sainte Catherine, you are at the low point of the circuit (391 m), and you now go up towards La Chèvre. You can see on the right the Château des Blancs and its round tower (cannot be visited), and soon the calvary of La Croix Rajaud. Going along the Bois des Leurres, you can see an open-air pig farm that extends to Les Blancs. Go down to the castle of Les Blancs and join the pond of Gorges Pierres on the left, just before arriving in the village, place du Chêne. After crossing the main road, you will come back to your starting point by walking up the Grande Rue, in front of the church.
