Circuit de La Chapelle de Repas

This tour takes you from the foot of the Pont du Roi dam to the Repas clearing, famous for its chapel, ancient motte féodale and scattered settlement.

- Follow the tarmac road up to the fork in the plateau and turn left.

- Just after the farmyard, turn left and start to descend to the bottom of the Pont du Roi river valley. Cross it on the footbridge and follow the path; you soon come to a larger track where you turn right; 50 m further on, you come to a junction where you veer sharply right again.

- Descend to the ford of the Pierre Luzière stream. Begin the ascent, which takes a sharp left turn and becomes quite steep; it eventually becomes gentler as you reach the plateau. The path takes you to the first houses, where the road becomes tarmac.

- Turn right after this group of houses onto another tarmac track and fork left.

- After 300 m, you come to the road from Auxy to Bas de Canada (RD 298). Follow this road to the right for about 1 km, and at the start of the descent, at an electricity pole, take a discreet path to the left which leads to a circular wash-house.

- Continue uphill past the washhouse until you reach a flat area, where you come to a small road on the right.

- Enter the forest and keep more or less parallel to the edge.

- Turn left at 90°, take a grassy path, then a carriage road, until you reach the main road.

- Turn left. After about 100 m, near the pond, turn right onto the tarmac road.

- At the entrance to the forest, turn left onto a tarmac track, then turn right towards the Chapelle de Repas; continue along the grassy track until you reach a gravel path where you turn right; walk for around 100 metres before turning left into a forest layon. Follow this to a short (approx. 30 m) but steep descent, at the end of which you turn right.

- 120 m further on, cross the modest ford of the Pierre Luzière stream.

- At the woodland square, fork left. Follow the forest track slowly down the valley of the Pierre Luzière stream.

- At the signposted junction, veer slightly to the left to reach a new junction where you veer slightly to the right; walk 50 m and descend to the left along a path that takes you to the footbridge over the river.

All that remains is to follow the path you took on the way up, turning right twice onto the tarmac road to get back to the starting point.
