From Saint-Martin-de-Lixy, point N°1, the inhabitants of this village are called : the Saint Martilixois. Take the direction of Tancon, those of this village are called Tanconnais, cross the village, at the church, point N°2, admire the flowering of this village crowned "two flowers", take on the left of the church in direction of the place called "Angelin", there, turn on the left and go down to Châteauneuf which shelters the Castelnoviens, while passing by the wood.
You arrive on the Place du Château, near the Romanesque church of St Pierre St Paul, built in the 12th century and heavily modified in the 15th century following the ravages of the Hundred Years War. On the left the castle of the Magdeleine, you can only admire it from the outside, go down the path of the Torail, point N°4 which leads you to the heart of the village of antiques. Take the time for a visit. Cross the river Sornin by the Roman bridge, at point N°6, you are in Saint Maurice les Châteauneuf, go on your left in direction of the place called "Machin", point N°7, continue until "La Matrouille" point N°8, you skirt the valley of Sornin, enjoy this serene landscape.
La Matrouille is an ancient stronghold from the 12th century. Join " Popet ", point N°9, " La Creuzette " N°10 then enter the village of Saint Edmond, a young village since it was only in 1878 that the Edmontian 78Km Circuit n°12 Boucle intercommunale, then part of the municipality of Saint Maurice les Châteauneuf, decided to build a church there Turn left in the direction of "Foy Roland", point N°13, a lovely path that leads you on the D295 in the direction of point N°e "Le Bois Moulin", go down into the valley and go back up, at the stop sign, cross the D8, take it for a while and then turn left in the direction of N°14 "Le Four à Chaux". Take the time to visit this site restored a few years ago by a group of passionate Castelnovimauriciens.
Continue to the place called " Bachet " N°15 then " Boyer ", point N°16 turn right and take the road which will lead you to " Noirards " while passing by " La Chenauderie " N°17. Cross the Sornin and then the D987 and go up to the point N°19 " Le Bey ", turn right, cross the D985. Then continue to N°20 " old village " of Chassigny sous Dun, there, the inhabitants are called : the Chassignons. Take the time to stop and visit this lovely Romanesque chapel, which has also been restored thanks to an association. Go up through the wood, the forest path leads you to "Dreuillien", point N°21, take it for a while and go back down by "la Madone", magnificent views are offered to your eyes: the village of Mussy sous Dun, whose inhabitants are called: the Mussiats.
Once in the village, go down to the viaduct, point N°22. Take for a moment the road along the river 1st category the Mussy appreciated by the numerous fishermen of the canton. Turn left towards " Le Fournay " point N°23, continue to " La Combe " N°24 and go up to " Dunet " N°25. Continue through a forest of douglas fir, it is then a mountainous landscape which offers itself to you.
Go down to the village of Anglure sous Dun, where you will meet the Anglurons. Turn left towards "Les Granges" N°26, continue to the "Moulin de la Planche Simon" N°27 and go up through the forest towards "Les Fonds", "La Ragée". Observe on the left the point of view on the mounts of Beaujolais. Arrived at " Chélut " N°28 turn left and go down to " Pirot " N°29 you have crossed the D216. Resume your ascent towards " le Bois " N°30, the landscape here is different, fields of crops, woods and meadows.
Go to " Point IGN 514m " N°31 turn left, go down, you cross a magnificent plateau. Continue downhill until you reach the stop sign, you are at the "Etang de Cadolon" N°32. Turn right, take the D81 to the hamlet of Cadolon N°33, at the traffic light cross over and go down on the left towards " La Favrie " N°34. Go up through the woods to point 35, "Les Quatre chemins", crossing "le bois Gautay". Turn right to "La Croix du Lièvre", N°36, continue straight on to "Les Justices", point N°37, you will be able to admire a surprising view of the Roannais and Forez mountains: the villages seen in the distance are those of Villers, Mars.
Turn right, go down to the cemetery of Coublanc N°38, here the inhabitants are the Coublandis, take the D259 for a moment then turn left, pass in front of the oratory "Notre Dame de Lourdes" restored and maintained by a team of volunteers, a mass is said there each year for August 15. Go down to the "Pont des Rigoles", point N°39, cross the D81 then the D83. Be careful! Go up towards " Vert pré ", N°40 turn left and go down to " Moulin Milan " N°41. Turn right to discover the superb castle of Barnay, N°42, go around it then go up on the plateau until " Rochemond " N°43. Admire the view of the valley which shelters the village of Saint-de-Denis-de-Cabanne and the city of Charlieu. Turn right, you are on an old Roman road, continue, at the " IGN 350 m ", N°44, turn left to return to the village of Saint-Martin-de-Lixy.
