Balade de la Chevrière

Clockwise tour :

- Leave the square by turning left down the D 224 for a few metres, then turn left into the small street leading to the church square (visit the church). Go down the street below the church and, at the fork in the road, continue down the small road on the right. Past the cemetery, it joins the D240, which you descend for another 500 m or so to find on the right, near a pylon, a good path that leads up the valley of the Valveron stream.

- Follow this road for almost 2 km. At the fork in the road, turn left onto a wide, shady track that leads to La Chevrière. Just before the buildings, it joins a good track. Turn right to return to Saint-Eugène. It first descends, then rises towards the Petits Châteaux farm. Follow the tarmac road to the crossroads with the D224, which you take to the right to return to the village parking lot after a few hundred metres.

Circuit in opposite direction (allows you to enjoy the scenery to the full, and the climb is less tiring)

- Leave the square and follow the D224 to the right for around 100 m. Turn left onto the small road leading down towards Les Petits Châteaux and La Chevrière. Follow this road to the village. A few metres before the buildings, turn left onto a wide, shady road. At the first fork in the road, turn right and follow the Valveron stream valley downhill for around 2 km

- At the junction with the D 240, take this road to the left and climb about 500 m. Then take the small road on the right. This runs alongside the cemetery to reach the village centre. Go left up to the church, which you can visit. Go up the street in front of the church to rejoin the D 224. After a few metres, turn right into the parking lot at Place de la Mairie.
