Grottes de Blanot

Authentic and mysterious cave going down to 80m underground alternating grandiose rooms, narrow galleries and concretions of all kinds.

In the heart of the Monts du Mâconnais, at the foot of Mont Saint-Romain, lies the jewel of the Clunisois: the Grottes de Blanot.

The main cave, the grotte-gouffre de la Cailleverdière, so named because of the vegetation surrounding the karst where it was formed, was discovered in 1700 and explored a few decades later by Doctor Dumolin, a pioneer of speleology.

Since then, it has never ceased to amaze visitors!

A visit to the cave abyss will take you deep into the earth at a depth of over 80m, to the heart of a vast network of galleries interspersed with rooms, each more curious and impressive than the last.

A loop of around an hour with a passionate guide who will tell you all about the history of this chasm and the fauna that inhabits it.

In season, come and join our caving trips every Friday evening: plunge into the depths of the chasm, in the footsteps of the first explorers, between rock and clay...
