The Ursuline Tower (12th century) was built on Gallo-Roman foundations and incorporated into the ramparts. In the 19th century, the Visitandines took possession of the site and installed the statue of the Virgin. The Tower belonged to a Japanese artist, Hisao Takahashi, a master in the art of mural painting. He created the international cultural centre of the Ursulines Tower (practice and teaching of the art of fresco painting and international cultural exchanges).
A venue for art exhibitions. The Tour des Ursulines, formerly the Tour des Prisonniers or Tour François Ier, is a keep built in the 12th century. Its purpose was to protect the former Château Rivault. It is the main vestige of this castle, dismantled around 1600, whose name derives from the Latin rivus. This name was also borne by the former lords, and was later retained in the name of the Quartier Rivault.
