Le Vieil Hôpital

Private property that was built in 1565 as a pastor's home and became a hospital in 1685. Visible only from the outside.

This house, flanked by a tower of stairs and a small gallery overlooking the river, was built in 1565 as the home of the pastor who had his temple nearby, the Maison des Templiers.

This building became a hospital in 1685 (run by nuns) after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes (prohibiting Protestants from practising their religion). It kept this function until 1816.

Today, this building is privately owned. You can only see it from the outside, by taking the road to Nolay, on your left, after the bridge. It can only be seen from the outside.
