Hôtel de ville de Paray-le-Monial

Former residence of a rich merchant who had the facade sculpted in the 16th century in the Renaissance style. Today it is the town hall. Exterior.

Medallions, shells, columns, cherubs... the ornamental wealth of this building celebrates the memory of its patron, the rich merchant Pierre Jayet, who had the façade of this beautiful mansion built between 1525 and 1528 on top of older structures. Its style belongs to the first Renaissance, that of the Loire castles. Its brilliance was undoubtedly enhanced by a rich polychromy whose traces were found during the 1994 restoration. The Town Hall has been located there since 1862.
